IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This turbo brush complies with current safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the Turbobrush and to the vacuum cleaner, please read these instructions and those of the vacuum cleaner carefully before using for the first time. They contain important information on safety, operation, and maintenance. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future user.

Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the power supply when you have finished using it, before changing over accessories, as well as for maintenance work and cleaning. Turn the vacuum cleaner off and unplug it.
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE USING THIS ACCESSORY FOR THE FIRST TIME. KEEP THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

  • The Turbobrush must only be used for household purposes to vacuum and brush dry floor surfaces. Do not use it on people or animals. Any other use, modification, or alteration to the brush is at the owner’s risk and could be dangerous.
  • Persons which lack physical, sensory, or mental abilities or experience with the machine should not use it without supervision or instruction by a responsible person.

Turbobrush features
The Turbobrush is operated by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. It has a rotating roller brush which is very effective at picking up thread, hairs, and fluff. Four rollers maintain the brush 1/16″ (1.5 mm) away from the floor.

Recommended use
warning 2The Turbobrush should not be used for vacuuming deep-pile rugs and carpets or valuable hand-knotted rugs and carpets, e.g. Persian and oriental rugs, etc. There is a danger of the threads being pulled out.
Do not use the Turbobrush to clean highly variable or uneven floors. The brush might come into contact with the floor and cause damage.

The Turbobrush is particularly suitable for vacuuming thread and hair from short pile carpeting.
The standard floorhead or one of the Miele floor brushes should be used for cleaning hard floors.

It is also important to observe the flooring manufacturer’s cleaning and care instructions.

Securing the Turbobrush
Model STB 205 (Fig. 01)
This Turbobrush is intended for use with Miele vacuum cleaners.

  • Instead of the usual floor attachment, fit the Turbobrush to the suction wands, turning it clockwise or counter-clockwise until it clicks into position.

Model STB 201 Vario (Fig. 02)
This Turbobrush has an adjustable adapter, enabling it to be used with nonMiele vacuum cleaners. The adapter fits suction wands with a diameter of between 1 1/4“ and 1 1/2” (30 and  38 mm). Only use the turbo brush with high-performance vacuum cleaners.

Opening the air inlet valve (Fig. 03)
The brush is operated by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. With deeper, dense pile carpets the roller brush may rotate more slowly. This is caused by the carpet pile creating a seal around the mouth of the Turbobrush and hindering the flow of air. This will affect how well the carpet is brushed.

  • To increase the airflow, open the air inlet valve (left-hand illustration). In all other situations the air inlet valve should be closed, to benefit from the full suction power.
  • Close the air inlet valve (right-hand illustration).

Maintenance
Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the electrical supply for cleaning and maintenance work on the Turbobrush. Switch off at the wall socket and remove the plug.

Removing threads and hairs (Fig. 04 – 06)

  • With a pair of scissors (Fig. 04), cut any threads or hairs that have become entangled on the roller brush. Then run the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the bits. For more tangles or blockages inside the Turbobrush, the cover can be opened. Any large particles can then be easily removed.
  • Unlock the roller cover on both sides with a coin and remove the roller cover (Fig. 05).
  • Remove any dirt from the interior and from the roller brush.
  • Replace and engage the roller cover (Fig. 06).
