Before you can start to use the device, you must remove the plastic tag of the battery compartment (6).

  1. Remove the cover of the battery compartment (6).
  2. Pull the plastic tag out of the battery compartment (6).
  3. Replace the cover of the battery compart- ment (6).
  4. Set the date and time (refer to Section Setting the Date and Time on Page 52).

Wait a moment while the device prepares itself for installation. As soon as the device is ready for installation ADA appears on the display.

Installation

Caution! Risk of burns through hot radiator valve! Contact could lead to hands being burned.
Allow the radiator to cool down before completing any installation, disassembly, or repair work on the device!
Wear work gloves!
Installation of the device is easy. It is not necessary to drain the heating water or alter the heating system. It is not necessary to use any special tools or switch off the heating system. The union nut (1) permanently attached to the device fits on all radiator valves of the most common manufacturers with thread size M30 x 1.5 mm, e.g. Heimeier, MNG, Junkers, Landis+Gyr (Duodyr), Honeywell-Braukmann, Oventrop type A, Oven-trop AV6, Schlosser, Comap D805, Valve, Sanayii, Mertik Maxitrol, Watts, Wingenroth (Wiroflex) R.B.M, Time, Jaga, Siemens, Ingmar.
The adapters (14) contained in the supply package enable the device to be fitted to Danfoss RA, Dan-foss RAV, and Danfoss RAVL radiator valves.

Disassembling the Old Thermostat Head

  1. Set the thermostat head (12) to its highest setting (11).
This means the thermostat head (12) is no longer pressing on the valve pin of the radiator and can be removed more easily.
  2. Unscrew the fixing element (10) of the thermo-stat head (12) using an appropriate tool and remove the thermostat head.

Installing the New Thermostat Head
To fit the device to Danfoss radiator valves, you need the adapter (14) provided. To determine which adapter (14) fits which radiator valve, please refer to Fig. BD on the fold-out page.
Caution! Risk of trapping be- tween the halves of the adapter!
► During assembly, be careful not to jam your fingers between the halves of the adapter!
Caution! Risk of cuts! The adapters and stem extension supplied could have sharp edges.
► Smoothen any burrs at the breakout points of the adapter used with the aid of an appropriate tool.

The notches (13) ensure the adapter (14) fits perfectly.

  1. If required, slide the adapter (14) that fits the radiator valve onto the radiator valve until the adapter (14) snaps into place.
If necessary, use a screwdriver to slightly prise open the adapter (14) in the area of the screw.
  2. Fix the corresponding adapter (14) with the screw and nut supplied (see Fig. B and Fig. C on the fold-out page).
In the case of the RAV valve, the stem extension (15) must also be mounted on the valve pin (see Fig. B on the fold-out page).
  3. Use the union nut (1) to assemble the device onto the adapter (14) or directly onto the radiator valve.
  4. Press the Rotary knob (9). The adaptation starts automatically.

The device adapts to the radiator valve. To do this, the radiator valve is opened and closed several times so that the device learns the respective endpoints. This process may take a few minutes.
Several adaptation cycles may be necessary before the radiator valve is detected correctly, depending on the condition of the valve.
If the adaptation does not work, even after several attempts, assemble the device again using a spacing ring.

Assembling/Disassembling the Union Nut (Poland / Austria)

In the case of supplies to Poland and Austria, the union nut (1) is not preassembled. Use the thread gauge supplied to determine which union nut (1) must be assembled on the radiator valve.

  1. Slide the union nut (1) on the radiator valve until you hear a distinct “click” and the union nut (1) can be rotated freely.

If the union nut (1) is fitted the wrong way around on the radiator valve, the union nut (1) can be simply screwed off and then fitted the right way around.
If the wrong union nut (1) is fitted, the union nut (1) must be removed as described below:

  1. Use a flat object, e.g. a screwdriver, to press lightly on the rim of the device.
  2. Pull the union nut (1) off.
