Safety information

  • Before setting up the monitor, carefully read all the documentation that came with the package.
  • To prevent fire or shock hazards, never expose the monitor to rain or moisture.
  • Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages inside the monitor may result in serious physical injury.
  • If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it by yourself. Contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.
  • Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected and the power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.
  • Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never place this product near or\ over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided.
  • The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company.
  • Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power standard.
  • Do not overload power strips and extension cords. Overloading can result in fire or electric shock.
  • Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor in any area where it may become wet. Place the monitor on a stable surface.
  • Unplug the unit during a lightning storm or if it will not be used for a long period of time. This will protect the monitor from damage due to power surges.
  • Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into the slots on the monitor cabinet.
  • To ensure satisfactory operation, use the monitor only with UL-listed computers that have appropriate configured receptacles marked between 100 ~ 240V AC.
  • The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible
  • If you encounter technical problems with the monitor, contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.
  • Provide an earthing connection before the mains plug is connected to the mains. And, when disconnecting the earthing connection, be sure to disconnect after pulling out the main plug from the mains.

WARNING

  • Usage of other than the specified head- or earphones can result in hearing loss due to excessive sound pressures.
  • Please confirm the distribution system in building installation shall provide the circuit breaker rated 120/240V, 20A (maximum).
  • If provided with a 3-pin attachment plug on the power cord, plug the cord into a grounded (earthed) 3-pin outlet. Do not disable the power cord grounding pin, for example, by attaching a 2-pin adapter. The grounding pin is an important safety feature.

A product may fall, causing serious personal injury or death. Many injuries, particularly to children, can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as:
ALWAYS use cabinets or stands or installation methods recommended by the manufacturer of the product set.
ALWAYS use furniture that can safely support the product.
ALWAYS ensure the product is not overhanging the edge of the supporting furniture.
ALWAYS educate children about the dangers of climbing on furniture to reach the product or its controls.
ALWAYS route cords and cables connected to your product so they can not be tripped over pulled or grabbed.
NEVER place a product in an unstable location.
NEVER place the product on tall furniture (for example, cupboards or bookcases) without anchoring both the furniture and the product to a suitable support.
NEVER place the product on cloth or other materials that may be located between the product and supporting furniture.

Care & Cleaning

  • Before you lift or reposition your monitor, it is better to disconnect the cables and power cord. Follow the correct lifting techniques when positioning the monitor. When lifting or carrying the monitor, grasp the edges of the monitor. Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord.
  • Cleaning. Turn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner.
  • Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with the LCD. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock.

The following symptoms are normal with the monitor:

  • The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch and turn it on again to make sure that the flicker disappears.
  • You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on the desktop pattern you use.
  • When the same image is displayed for hours, an afterimage of the previous screen may remain after switching the image. The screen will recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours.
  • When the screen becomes black or flashes, or cannot work anymore, contact your dealer or service center to fix it. Do not repair the screen by yourself!

Assembling the monitor

To assemble the monitor

  1. Align the screw hole on the arm with the bundled screw on the base. Then insert the base into the arm.
  2. Fix the base to the arm by fastening the bundled screw.

*Base screw size: M6 x 17mm

Monitor introduction

1.5.1 Using the Controls button
Use the control button on the back of the monitor to adjust the image settings.

  1. Power Indicator:
    • The color definition of the power indicator is as the below table.

  2. Power Button:
    • Press this button to turn the monitor on/off.
  3. GameVisual Button:
    This is shortcut 2. The default setting is GameVisual.
    • Press this Shortcut to switch from seven video preset modes (Scenery Mode, Racing Mode, Cinema Mode, RTS/RPG Mode, FPS Mode, sRGB Mode and MOBA Mode) with GameVisual™ Video Intelligence Technology.
  4. GamePlus Button:
    This is shortcut 1. The default setting is GamePlus.
    •  GamePlus: The GamePlus Function provides a toolkit and creates a better gaming environment for users when playing different types of games. Particularly, the Crosshair function is specially designed for new gamers or beginners interested in First Person Shooter (FPS) games. To active GamePlus:
    •  Press GamePlus Button to enter the GamePlus main menu.
    •  Activate Crosshair, Timer, FPS Counter, or Display Alignment function.
    •  Move the button up/down to select and press ( ) to confirm the function needed. Press to go off, and exit.
    •  Crosshair/Timer/FPS Counter is movable by pressing a 5-way key.
  5. Close Button:
    • Exit the OSD menu.
  6. (5-way) Button:
    • Turns on the OSD menu. Enacts the selected OSD menu item.
    • Increases/Decreases values or moves your selection up/down/left/right
  7. 2.1 Adjusting the monitor

  • For optimal viewing, we recommend that you look at the full face of the monitor, then adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you.
  • Hold the stand to prevent the monitor from falling when you change its angle.
  • You can adjust the monitor’s angle from +23˚ to -5˚.

2.2 Detaching the arm/stand (for VESA wall mount)

The detachable stand of this monitor is specially designed for a VESA wall mount.
To detach the arm/stand

  1. Disconnect power and signal cables. Carefully put the monitor facedown on its EPS packaging.
  2. Remove the four (4) screws securing the arm to the rear of the monitor.
  3. Detach the stand (arm and base) from the monitor.

3.1 OSD (On-Screen Display) menu
3.1.1 How to reconfigure

  1. Press Central of 5-way to activate the OSD menu.
  2. Press the    and    buttons to toggle between options in the Menu. As you move from one icon to another, the option name is\ highlighted.
  3. To select the highlighted item on the menu press the Center key.
  4. Press the    and    buttons to select the desired parameter.
  5. Press the Center key to enter the slide bar and then use the  or    buttons, according to the indicators on the menu, to make your changes.
  6. Press the ◄/► to move the left / right menu.

3.1.2 OSD Function Introduction

1. Gaming
This function contains six sub-functions that you can select for your preference.

  • Variable OD: The adjusting range is from level 0 to level 5. The default setting is level 3.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium: It can allow an AMD FreeSync Premium supported graphics source to dynamically adjust display refresh rate based on typical content frame rates for power-efficient, virtually stutter-free, and low-latency display update.
  • LMB: Check to decrease motion blur and minimize ghosting part when on-screen objects are fast-moving.
  • GamePlus: Activate Crosshair, Timer, or FPS Counter or Display Alignment function.
  • GameVisual: This function contains seven sub-functions that you can select for your preference.
  • Shadow Boost: Dark color enhancement adjust the monitor gamma curve to enrich the dark tones in and image-making dark scenes and objects much\ easier be found.
  • In the Racing Mode, the Saturation, and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.
  • In the sRGB Mode, the Saturation, Skin Tone, Color Temp., Brightness, Contrast and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.
  • In the MOBA Mode, the Saturation and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.

2. Image
You can adjust Brightness, Contrast, VividPixel, ASCR, Aspect Control, and Blue Light Filter from this main function.

  • Brightness: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
  • Contrast: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
  • VividPixel: ASUS Exclusive Technology that brings lifelike visuals for crystal-clear and detail-oriented enjoyment. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
  • ASCR: Select ON or OFF to enable or disable the dynamic contrast ratiofunction, ASCR is Disabled when ECO Mode or ELMB is on.
  • Aspect Control: Adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full” and 4:3.
  • Blue Light Filter: Adjust the energy level of blue light emitted from the LED backlight.
  • When Blue Light Filter is activated, the default settings of Racing Mode will be automatically imported.
  • Between Level 1 to Level 3, the Brightness function is user-configurable.
  • Level 4 is an optimized setting. It is in compliance with TUV Low Blue Light Certification. The Brightness function is not user-configurable.
  • 4:3 is only available when the input source is in 4:3 format.
    Please refer to the following to alleviate eye strains:
  • Users should take some time away from the display if working for long hours. It is advised to take short breaks (at least 5 mins) after around 1 hour of continuous working at the computer. Taking short and frequent breaks is more effective than a single longer break.
  • To minimize eye strain and dryness in your eyes, users should rest the eye periodically by focusing on objects that are far away.
  • Eye exercises can help to reduce eye strain. Repeat these exercises often. If eye strain continues please consult a physician. Eye exercises: (1) Repeating look up and down (2) Slowly roll your eyes (3) Move your eyes diagonal.
  • High energy blue light may lead to eye strain and AMD (Age-Related Macular Degeneration). Blue light Filter to reduce 70% (max.) of harmful blue light to avoid CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome).

3. Color
Select the image color you like from this function.

  •  Color Temp.: Contains three preset color modes (Cool, Normal, Warm) and User Mode.
  • Saturation: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
  • Skin Tone: Contains three color modes including Reddish, Natural, and Yellowish.
  • In the User Mode, the colors R (Red), G (Green), and B (Blue) are user-configurable; the adjusting range is from 0 ~ to 100.

4. Input Select
Select the input source from the HDMI or DisplayPort input signal.

5. My Favorite
You can adjust Shortcut and Customized Setting from this main function.

  •  Shortcut: User can select from “GamePlus”, “GameVisual”, “Brightness”, “Contrast”, “Blue Light Filter”, “Color Temp.”, “Volume” and set as a shortcut key.
  • Customized Setting: You can do your setting according to your favorite.

6. System Setup
Adjusts the system configuration.

  • Language: Select OSD language. The selections are: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Poland, Czech, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Portugal,  Turkey, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai, and Indonesian.
  • Sound: Adjusts the output volume level or mute the audio.
  • ECO Mode: Activate the ecology mode for power saving.
  • Power Indicator: Turn the power LED indicator on/off.
  • Power Key Lock: To disable/enable the power key.
  • Key Lock: Disable all key functions. Pressing the down button for more than five seconds to disable key lock function.
  • OSD Setup: Adjusts the OSD Timeout, DDC/CI, and Transparency of the OSD screen.
  • Information: Displays the monitor information.
  • All Reset: Selects “Yes” to revert all settings to the factory default mode.

Troubleshooting (FAQ)

Problem Possible Solution
Power LED is not ON • Press the button to check if the monitor is in the ON mode.
• Check if the power cord is properly connected to the monitor and the power outlet.
• Check Power Indicator function in main menu OSD. Select “ON” to turn on the power LED.
The power LED lights amber and there is no screen image • Check if the monitor and the computer are in the ON mode.
• Make sure the signal cable has properly connected the monitor and the computer.
• Inspect the signal cable and make sure none of the pins are bent.
• Connect the computer with another available monitor to check if the computer is properly working.
Screen image is too light or dark • Adjust the Contrast and Brightness settings via OSD.
Screen image bounces or a wave pattern is present in the image • Make sure the signal cable is properly connected to the monitor and the computer.
• Move electrical devices that may cause electrical interference.
The screen image has color defects (white does not look white) Inspect the signal cable and make sure that none of the pins are bent.
• Perform Reset via OSD.
• Adjust the R/G/B color settings or select the Color Temperature via OSD.
No sound or sound is low • Adjust the volume settings of both your monitor and computer.
• Make sure the computer sound card driver is properly installed and activated.
