BOSCH MUZ45X Fancy Meat Grinder

For your safety

• This accessory is designed for the food processor MUM5…/ MUMX…/ MUMXX… Follow the operating instructions for the food processor MUM5…/MUMX…/MUMXX…
• This accessory provides 3 basic processing options:
• Grinding: for grinding and cutting fairly small quantities of spices (e.g. pepper, cumin, juniper, cinnamon, dried anise, saffron), grain (e.g. wheat, millet, linseeds), coffee and sugar Cutting: for cutting and mincing meat, hard cheese, onions, herbs, garlic, fruit, vegetables, nuts, almonds and chocolate
• Blending: for mixing liquid or semisolid
  food, for cutting/mincing raw fruit and vegetables as well as frozen fruit and for pureeing food, with the addition of suitable cold or warm liquids (e.g. milk, water)

Important!

• Never use hot liquids (>60 °C). It must not be used for processing other objects or substances.
• Safety instructions for this appliance
•  Risk of injury from sharp blades/rotating drive!
• Never grip the blade by the blade insert!
• When working with the blade insert (assembly, disassembly, cleaning), always attach the blade guard. Do not touch blade with bare hands!
• Do not attach or remove accessories until the drive is at a standstill.
• Attach only completely assembled accessories to the base unit.

 Important!

• If storing in the refrigerator, remove the blade holder together with the blade insert and place the lid on the container.
• Do not subject the glass container to extreme temperature fluctuations (e.g. do not put any hot ingredients into a glass container which has just been taken out of the refrigerator). Do not process any frozen food in the glass container.
•  Explanation of the symbols on the appliance or accessory
• Follow the instructions in the operating instructions.
• Place attachment on base unit (a) and lock (b).
• Close the container with the lid (b) or remove the lid (a).
• Before use, read these instructions carefully in order to become familiar with important safety and operating instructions for this appliance.
• Please keep the operating instructions in a safe place. If passing on the appliance to a third party, always include the operating instructions. The instructions describe different features of the accessory as well as its use on different appliances.

Operation

•  Before using for the first time, thoroughly clean all parts, see “Cleaning and care”.

• Preparing the attachment

  •  Put ingredients into the container.
  • Do not exceed max mark!
  •  Grip blade insert on the blade guard and insert into the blade holder. Press it down into place.
  •  Remove the blade guard.
  •  Place blade holder on the container and close by turning it anticlockwise.
• Tip: To facilitate locking the blade holder, moisten the seal of the blade insert with a little water or cooking oil.
  •  Check that the red locking lever on the blade insert is completely locked (detail image 5). If it is not completely locked, the attachment cannot be placed on the base unit!
    Turn the attachment over.

Working

•  Press release button and move swivel arm to vertical position.
•  Cover unused drives with drive covers.
•  Remove the blender drive cover.
•  Put on attachment (arrow on the blade holder points to arrow on the base unit) and press downwards (detail image 8).
•  Turn attachment all the way anticlockwise (dot on the blade holder points to arrow on the base unit, detail image 9).
•  Insert the mains plug.
•  Turn rotary switch to setting M and hold. The longer the appliance remains switched on, the finer the ingredients are cut.
• In the case of herbs the required cutting result can be achieved very quickly after switching the appliance on. A brief “tap” on setting M may be adequate.

Figure G shows guide values for the maximum quantities and processing times when working with the different attachments.

After using the appliance

Risk of injury from rotating drive!

Do not touch blender blades with bare hands.

•  Release rotary switch.
•  Remove mains plug.
•  Turn attachment clockwise and remove.
•  Turn the attachment over.
•  Loosen blade holder by turning it clockwise and remove.
•  Attach blade guard and press into place.
•  Place the lid on the container and close (b).

Tip: Preferably clean the attachment immediately after use. The blade insert can be cleaned thoroughly by taking it out of the blade holder (see “Cleaning and servicing”).

Cleaning and servicing

Risk of injury from sharp blades!

When working with the blade insert (assembly, disassembly, cleaning), always attach the blade guard. Do not touch blade with bare hands!
Warning!

• Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Surfaces may be damaged.
• Blade inserts, container and lid are dish washer proof.
• The blade insert can be cleaned thoroughly by taking it out of the blade holder.

•  Turn the blade holder over (with blade guard attached).
•  Press the blade insert out of the centre of the blade holder.
•  To reassemble, grip the blade insert by the blade guard and insert into the blade holder. Press it down into place.

Tip: To preclean the appliance, put a little water and washingup liquid in the attachment immediately after use. Close with blade holder and place on the food processor. Switch on for a few seconds (setting M). Pour out water and rinse parts with fresh water.

Recipes

Note: You may not have the accessories for all the recipes. The blender attachment is required for the recipes identified with *.

Mediterranean spice mix

•  9 g dried rosemary
•  14 g dried caraway seeds
•  6 g dried coriander seeds
•  3 g dried oregano
•  2 g dried cinnamon sticks
•  5 g coarse salt

Tools: Grinding attachment and blade insert with grinding blade (black seal)

•  Put all ingredients in the glass container and close with the blade holder.
•  Grind for 90 seconds on setting M. This spice mix can be used e.g. for grilled vegetables, marinated fish, marinated meat, meat kebabs, vegetable lasagne, sauces for pasta dishes.
