WARNING! It is the user’s responsibility to check the following:
Check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure that they are safe before use. Inspect power supply leads, plugs, and all electrical connections for wear and damage. Sealey recommends that an RCD (Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical products. You may obtain an RCD by contacting your local Sealey stockist. If the product is used in the course of business duties, it must be maintained in a safe condition and routinely PAT (Portable Appliance Test) tested. For electrical safety information, it is important that the following information is read and understood.
1.1.1. Ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply.
1.1.2. Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all connections to ensure that they are secure.
1.1.3. Important: Ensure that the voltage rating on the appliance suits the power supply to be used.
1.1.4. If the cable or plug is damaged during use, switch the electricity supply and remove it from use.
Class II products are wired with live (brown) and neutral (blue) only and are marked with the Class II symbol; Sealey recommends that repairs are carried out by a qualified electrician.
1.2. BATTERY CHARGER SAFETY
▲ DANGER! BE AWARE, THAT LEAD-ACID BATTERIES GENERATE EXPLOSIVE GASES DURING NORMAL BATTERY OPERATION.
FOR THIS REASON, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY, EACH TIME YOU USE
THE CHARGING EQUIPMENT.
Follow these instructions and those published by the battery and vehicle manufacturers, and the maker of any equipment you intend to use in the vicinity of the battery. Remember to review warning marks on all products and on engines.

OPERATION
NOTE: The charger should be connected to the mains supply before connecting to the battery and pre-selection made for battery voltage prior to connection to the battery.
4.1. CHARGING MODE SELECTION Refer to the diagram above.
4.1.1. Pre-select battery voltage prior to connection to the battery. The choice of charging mode depends on battery-rated voltage i.e 6V or 12V.
4.1.2. Plug charger into a mains supply.
4.1.3. Select the charging mode option by depressing the Mode button immediately the unit is powered on. When the required option is highlighted release the Mode button.
4.1.4. To reselect Mode the mains power will need to be switched off and on again.
4.1.5. When maintenance charging is not required disconnect the unit from the mains power supply before disconnecting from the battery.
NOTE: The unit has a self-diagnostic feature and will automatically correct an incorrect voltage selection after the initial 30-minute analysis stage.
4.2. CONNECTING TO THE BATTERY
4.2.1. The output cable from the charger terminates in a polarity-conscious socket into which the two alternative leads can be connected.
4.2.2. One lead set has two color-coded battery clamps which can be quickly attached to and detached from the battery posts. The second lead is for semi permanent connection to the battery via eyelets.
4.3. CHARGING A NEGATIVE EARTHED BATTERY
4.3.1. Ensure that the black clamp on the clamp lead is not touching the battery or the fuel line.
4.3.2. Connect the positive (+) red clamp to the positive (+) battery post and connect the negative (-) black clamp to the negative (-) battery post or vehicle chassis.
4.4. CHARGING A POSITIVE EARTHED BATTERY
4.4.1. Ensure that the red clamp on the clamp lead is not touching the battery or the fuel line.
4.4.2. Connect the negative (-) black clamp to the negative (-) battery post and connect the positive (+) red clamp to the positive (+) battery post or vehicle chassis.
4.5. BATTERY NOT CONNECTED TO A VEHICLE
4.5.1. Connect the (+) red clamp to the positive (+) battery post and connect the (-) black clamp to the negative (-) battery post.
4.6. PERMANENT CONNECTION TO VEHICLE USING EYELET LEAD
4.6.1. Connect the eyelet on the red (+) wire to the positive (+) battery terminal and connect the eyelet on the black (-) wire to the negative (-) battery terminal.
