IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

  1. Read all instructions before using the appliance and save them for future reference.
  2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put or immerse the motor unit, power cord, or electrical plug in water or any other liquid. Do not rinse it under the tap and do not clean it in the dishwasher. Only certain parts of this appliance have been designed to be immersed in water or other liquids. If the motor unit falls into liquid, immediately unplug it. Carefully remove the motor unit, then clean and dry it thoroughly before continuing.
  3. Check if the voltage indicated on the base of the appliance corresponds to the local electrical voltage before you connect the appliance.
  4. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. For assistance in the U.S. or Canada only call 1-866-309-8817.
  5. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
  6. This appliance is intended for household use only. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use as described in this manual.
  7. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by, on, or near children or invalids.
  8. This appliance should not be used by children and care should be taken when used near children.
  9. Children should be supervised by a responsible person to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  10. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  11. The blades are very sharp. Do not touch the blades, especially when the appliance is plugged in. Handle carefully when removing, inserting or cleaning. Exercise care when removing or inserting the blades.
  12. Make certain the MultiChopper lid is securely locked in place before operating the appliance. Do not attempt to remove the lid or empty the chopper bowl until the blade has stopped rotating.
  13. Release the motor unit, unplug and ensure all moving parts have stopped before disassembling appliance to remove food.
  14. If the blades get stuck, unplug the appliance before you remove the ingredients that block the blades. BLADES ARE SHARP.
  15. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.
  16. Do not let cord contact hot surface, including the stove.
  17. Do not place the appliance or power cord near a hot surface, gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  18. Always unwind the power cord completely before you switch on the appliance.
  19. Keep hands, fingers, hair, scarves, clothing as well as spatulas and other utensils away from the appliance while using to reduce the risk of injury to persons, and/or damage to the appliance.
  20. Always ensure the appliance is turned off after each use. Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, before touching parts that move and before cleaning or attempting to move the appliance.
  21. Never leave the appliance unattended while in use.
  22. Always place the appliance on a stable, level and horizontal surface.
  23. Do not use the appliance outdoors or in moving vehicles or boats. Misuse may cause injury.
  24. Avoid contact with moving parts.
  25. Make sure all parts are assembled properly before you switch on the appliance. Do not disassemble while the appliance is operating.
  26. Do not exceed the suggested quantities and running time specified in the user manual or run the motor continuously.
  27. Do not process more than one batch without interruption (maximum 3 minutes). Let the appliance cool down completely before continuing to process.
  28. Keep hands, fingers, and utensils away from the cutting blade while chopping food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the food chopper. A scraper may be used but only when the food chopper is not running.
  29. The blade is sharp. Handle carefully.
  30. To reduce the risk of injury, never place the cutting blade on the base without first putting the bowl properly in place.
  31. Be certain the cover is securely locked in place before operating the appliance.
  32. Do not attempt to defeat the cover interlock mechanism.

IMPORTANT

  • Vibration may occur while operating the appliance. This is normal. Make sure the appliance is always operated on a stable, flat surface.
  • If a significant amount of juice or fluid spills onto, around or under the appliance while operating, turn the appliance off, and unplug from outlet. Then clean and dry the appliance before continuing to use.
  • This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Before first use

  1. Thoroughly clean all parts that will come into food contact before you use the appliance for the first time (see chapter ‘Cleaning’).

Note

  • Make sure all parts are completely dry before you start using the appliance.

Preparing for use

  1. Let hot ingredients cool down before you process them or put them in the chopper bowl (maximum temperature 175°F / 80°C).
  2. Cut large ingredients into pieces of approx. 2 x 2 x 2 cm (3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 in) before you process them.
  3. Assemble the appliance properly before you put the plug in the wall outlet.

Note

  • Always unwind the power cord completely before you switch on the appliance.
  • Remove all packing material or labels before using.

Using the appliance

  • Use this appliance for its intended household use as described in this manual.

Caution

  • Avoid contact with moving parts. Keep hands and fingers away from blades and out of the container during operation or while the appliance is plugged in to prevent the possibility of severe injury to persons and/or damage to the appliance.

MultiChopper (HR2505 only)

  • The MultiChopper is intended to chop onions, garlic, cheese, raw and cooked vegetables, cooked eggs and fruits etc. into small and evenly sized pieces.

Caution

  • Be very careful when you handle the blade unit, the cutting edges are very sharp. Always hold the part by the center plastic rod. Never touch the blades themselves. (fig. 1)
  • Always unplug the appliance first. Be particularly careful when you insert or remove the blade unit from the chopper bowl and during cleaning. Never touch the blade itself when cleaning or clearing food caught in blades.
  • Do not process ingredients such as ice cubes, frozen ingredients, dark chocolate or fruits with stones. (fig. 2)

Note 

  • Always use the MultiChopper with the basket in place.

Chopping quantities

  1. Insert the basket into the bowl. (fig. 3)
  2. Insert the ChopDrop™ blade unit into the bowl and place it onto the metal pin. (fig. 4)
  3. Cut the ingredients into 2 x 2 x 2 cm (3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 in) pieces, and then put the precut ingredients into the basket. (fig. 5)
  4. Place the MultiChopper lid on the chopper bowl. Be certain the lid is securely locked in place before operating the appliance. (fig. 6)
  5. Attach the motor unit on the chopper bowl and put the plug in the wall outlet (fig. 7)
  6. Press down the motor and let the appliance operate the unit until all ingredients are cut. (fig. 8)
  7. After you have finished chopping, release the motor unit to turn the appliance off and unplug the appliance. (fig. 9)
  8. Disassemble the MultiChopper lid, the blade unit, and the basket. (fig. 10 & 11)
  9. Pour the cut ingredients out. (fig. 12)

  • Blades are sharp. Handle carefully. Always unplug the appliance first. Never touch the blade itself when cleaning or clearing food caught in blades.

Chopper

  • The chopper is intended for chopping ingredients such as nuts, raw meat, onions, hard cheese, boiled eggs, garlic, herbs, dry bread, etc.

Caution

  • Be very careful when you handle the blade unit, the cutting edges are very sharp. Always hold the part by the center plastic rod. Never touch the blades themselves. (fig. 13)
  • Always unplug the appliance first. Be particularly careful when you insert or remove the blade unit from the chopper bowl and during cleaning. Never touch the blade itself when cleaning or clearing food caught in blades.
  • Do not process ingredients such as ice cubes, frozen ingredients, dark chocolate or fruits with stones. (fig. 2)
  1. Insert the regular blade unit into the bowl and place it onto the metal pin (fig. 14).
  2. Cut the ingredients into 2 x 2 x 2 cm (3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 in) pieces, and then put the precut ingredients into the chopper bowl. (fig. 15)
  3. Place the MultiChopper lid on the chopper bowl. Be certain the lid is securely locked in place before operating the appliance (fig. 16)
  4. Attach the motor unit on the chopper bowl and put the plug in the wall outlet. (fig. 17)
  5. Press down the motor unit and let the appliance operate until all ingredients are cut. (fig. 18)
  6. After you have finished chopping, release the motor unit to turn the appliance off and unplug the appliance. (fig. 19)
  7. Disassemble the MultiChopper lid and the blade unit. (fig. 20 & 21)
  8. Pour the cut ingredients out. (fig. 22) Chopping quantities and processing times.

 

The MultiChopper with adjustable basket is intended to chop onions, garlic, cheese, raw and cooked vegetables, cooked eggs and fruits, etc. into evenly sized pieces. The adjustable basket comes with three sizes for the desired end result.

Chopping quantities

 

  1. Assemble the adjustable basket. (fig. 27 & 28)
  2. Insert the basket into the bowl. (fig. 25)
  3. Insert the ChopDrop™ blade unit into the bowl and place it onto the metal pin. (fig. 26)
  4. Cut the ingredients into 2 x 2 x 2 cm (3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 in) pieces, and then put the precut ingredients into the basket. (fig. 29)
  5. Place the MultiChopper lid on the chopper bowl. Be certain the lid is securely locked in place before operating the appliance. (fig. 30)
  6. Attach the motor unit to the chopper bowl and put the plug in the wall outlet (fig. 31)
  7. Press down the motor and let the appliance operate unit until all ingredients are cut. (fig. 32)
  8. After you have finished chopping, release the motor unit to turn the appliance off and unplug the appliance. (fig. 33)
  9. Disassemble the MultiChopper lid, the blade unit and the basket. (fig. 34 & 35)
  10. Detach the two parts of the basket. (fig. 36)
  11. Pour the cut ingredients out. (fig 37)

Cleaning

Caution

  • Do not immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquids, nor rinse them under the tap. Use a moist cloth to clean these parts.
  • Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as alcohol, gasoline or acetone to clean the appliance.

Storage

  • Store the appliance in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or another heat source.

Frequently asked questions

Question The appliance makes a lot of noise produces an unpleasant smell feels hot to the touch or produces smoke. What should I do? 

  • Answer: The appliance may produce an unpleasant smell or emit a little smoke if it has been used too long. In this case, you should switch off the appliance and let it cool down for 60 minutes. If the problem persists, in the U.S. or Canada only, call 1-866-309-8817 for assistance.

Question Why does the appliance suddenly stop working?

  • Answer: Some hard ingredients may block the blade unit. Unplug the appliance, detach the motor unit and carefully remove the ingredients that block the blade unit.
