Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to Philips! Our scale inhibitor comes with a 3-stage ltration, which effectively prevents scale formation and reduces particles, protecting your water heating appliances such as water heater, washing machine, and dishwasher. Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance. Save it for future reference.

When the inlet water pressure exceeds 0.4 MPa, a pressure relief valve should be installed before the product. The pressure relief valve needs to be  purchased separately

Installation

  1. Turn off the cold water supply.
  2. Connect the cold water hose with the cold water inlet of the scale inhibitor, and tighten the nut with a wrench. Please don’t miss the gasket. If the water hose is 3/4”, attach the 3/4” adaptor to the cold water inlet before connecting the hose.
  3. Connect the cold water hose with the ltered water outlet of the scale inhibitor. Please don’t miss the gasket. If the water hose is 3/4”, attach the 3/4” adaptor to the ltered water outlet before connecting the hose.
  4. Turn on the cold water supply. Wipe the connections with a tissue to see if there is leakage. If the tissue stays dry, it means it is installed properly.

Refill antiscalant

  1. Turn off the cold water supply.
  2. Turn the bottom cap clockwise to remove it.
  3. Take out the filter cartridge, remove the cap, and take out the emptied fabric bag.
  4. Rinse the stainless steel mesh of the filter cartridge with tap water, fill the cartridge with a new bag of the antiscalant, and put the cap back on the filter cartridge.
  5. Put the filter cartridge back in the scale inhibitor, and twist the bottom cap anticlockwise until it’s tightened.

Note:
If it’s installed before a washing machine or a dishwasher, it’s recommended to check if refill is needed during the annual maintenance check. If it’s installed before a water heater, it’s recommended to check if refill is needed every 3-6 months. The refill model code is AWP183.

Precautions

  • The inlet water temperature should be 5-38 ℃, the inlet water pressure should be 0.1-0.4 MPa, otherwise the product may be damaged. When the inlet water pressure exceeds 0.4 MPa, a pressure relief valve should be installed before the product. The pressure relief valve needs to be purchased separately.
  • Always use municipal tap water as the water source. Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the product.
  • Please turn off the water supply if the it will not be used for an extended period.
  • Under no circumstances should the product be installed outdoors.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible cause Solution
 

No water comes out.

Cold water valve is turned off. Turn on the cold water valve.
Refill is needed. A new bag of antiscalant.
 

Water leaks from the connections.

The nut is not tightened. Tighten the nut with a wrench.
The gasket is missing. Ensure there is a gasket.
The gasket is worn. Contact consumer care.
 

Water leaks from the bottom cap.

The bottom cap is not tight- ened. Tighten the bottom cap.
The gasket is missing. Ensure there is a gasket.
The gasket is worn. Contact consumer care.
 

The flow gets slower.

The cold water valve is not fully turned on. Turn on the cold water valve.
The stainless steel mesh is clogged. Clean the stainless steel valve.
Refill is needed. A new bag of antiscalant.
There is noticeable scale build-up. Refill is needed. A new bag of antiscalant.
