CANDY MINIBAR FREEZER

Thank you for purchasing this product. Before using your refrigerator, please carefully read this instruction manual in order to maximize its performance. Store all documentation for subsequent use or for other owners. This product is intended solely for household use or similar applications such as:

the kitchen area for personnel in shops, offices and other working environments
on farms, by clientele of hotels, motels and other environments of a residential type
at bed and breakfasts (B & B)
for catering services and similar applications not for retail sale.

This appliance must be used only for purposes of storage of food, any other use is considered dangerous and the manufacturer will not be responsible for any omissions. Also, it is recommended that you take note of the warranty conditions.

SAFETY INFORMATION

This guide contains many important safety information. Please, we suggest you keep these instructions in a safe place for easy reference and a good experience with the appliance. The refrigerator contains a refrigerant gas (R600a: isobutane) and insulating gas (cyclopentane), with high compatibility with the environment, that are, however, inflammable.

Caution: risk of fire

If the refrigerant circuit should be damaged:
Avoid opening flames and sources of ignition. Thoroughly ventilate the room in which the appliance is situated

WARNING!

Care must be taken while cleaning/carrying the appliance to avoid touching the condenser metal wires at the back of the appliance, as you might injure your fingers and hands or damage your product.
This appliance is not designed for stacking with any other appliance. Do not attempt to sit or stand on top of your appliance as it is not designed for such use. You could injure yourself or damage the appliance.
Make sure that mains cable is not caught under the appliance during and after carrying/moving the appliance, to avoid the mains cable becoming cut or damaged.
When positioning your appliance take care not to damage your flooring, pipes, wall coverings etc. Do not move the appliance by pulling by the lid or handle. Do not allow children to play with the appliance or tamper with the controls. Our company declines to accept any liability should the instructions not be followed.
Do not install the appliance in humid, oily or dusty places, nor expose it to direct sunlight and to water.
Do not install the appliance near heaters or inflammable materials.
If there is a power failure do not open the lid. Frozen food should not be affected if the failure lasts for less than 20 hours. If the failure is longer, then the food should be checked and eaten immediately or cooked and then refrozen.
If you find that the lid of the chest freezer is difficult to open just after you have closed it, don’t worry. This is due to the pressure difference which will equalize and allow the lid to be opened normally after a few minutes.
Do not connect the appliance to the electricity supply until all packing and transit protectors have been removed.
Leave to stand for at least 4 hours before switching on to allow compressor oil to settle if transported horizontally.
This freezer must only be used for its intended purpose (i.e. storing and freezing of edible foodstuff).
Do not store medicine or research materials in the Wine Coolers. When the material that requires a strict control of storage temperatures is to be stored, it is possible that it will deteriorate or an uncontrolled reaction may occur that can cause risks.
Before performing any operation, unplug the power cord from the power socket.
On delivery, check to make sure that the product is not damaged and that all the parts and accessories are in perfect condition.
If in the refrigeration system a leak is noted, do not touch the wall outlet and do not use open flames. Open the window and let air into the room. Then call a service center to ask for repair.
Do not use extension cords or adapters.
Do not excessively pull or fold the power cord or touch the plug with wet hands.
Do not damage the plug and/or the power cord; this could cause electrical shocks or fires.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
Do not place or store inflammable and highly volatile materials such as ether, petrol, LPG, propane gas, aerosol spray cans, adhesives, pure alcohol, etc. These materials may cause an explosion.
Do not use or store inflammable sprays, such as spray paint, near the Wine Coolers. It could cause an explosion or fire.
Do not place objects and/or containers filled with water on the top of the appliance.
We do not recommend the use of extension leads and multi-way adapters.
Do not dispose of the appliance on a fire. Take care not to damage, the cooling circuit/ pipes of the appliance in transportation and in use. In case of damage do not expose the appliance to fire, potential ignition source and immediately ventilate the room where the appliance is situated.
The refrigeration system positioned behind and inside the Wine Coolers contains refrigerant. Therefore, avoid damaging the tubes.
Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.
Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

Do not touch internal cooling elements, especially with wet hands, to avoid cracks or injuries.
Maintain the ventilation openings in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, free of obstruction.
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects such as knives or forks to remove the frost.
Never use hairdryers, electrical heaters or other such electrical appliances for defrosting.
Do not scrape with a knife or sharp object to remove frost or ice that occurs. With these, the refrigerant circuit can be damaged, the spill from which can cause a fire or damage your eyes.
Do not use mechanical devices or other equipment to hasten the defrosting process.
Absolutely avoid the use of open flame or electrical equipment, such as heaters, steam cleaners, candles, oil lamps and the like in order to speed up the defrosting phase.
Never use water wash the compressor position, wipe it with a dry cloth thoroughly after cleaning to prevent rust.
It is recommended to keep the plug clean, any excessive dust residues on the plug can be the cause fire.
The product is designed and built for domestic household use only.
The guarantee will be void if the product is installed or used in commercial or non-residential domestic household premises.
The product must be correctly installed, located and operated in accordance with the instructions contained in the User Instructions Booklet provided.
The guarantee is applicable only to new products and is not transferable if the product is resold.
Our company disclaims any liability for incidental or consequential damages.
The guarantee does not in any way diminish your statutory or legal rights.
Do not perform repairs on this Wine Coolers. All interventions must be performed solely by qualified personnel.
If you are discarding an old product with a lock or latch fitted to the door, ensure that it is left in a safe condition to prevent the entrapment of children.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or with a lack of experience and knowledge; provided that they have been given adequate supervision or instruction concerning how to use the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be made by children without supervision.
Locks :If your Fridge/Freezer is fitted with a lock, to prevent children being entrapped keep the key out of reach and not in the vicinity of the appliance. If disposing of an old Fridge/Freezer break off any old locks or latches as a safeguard.

Scrapping old appliance

This appliance is marked according to the European directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). WEEE contains both polluting substances (which can cause negative consequences for the environment) and basic components (which can be re-used). It is important to have WEEE subjected to specific treatments, in order to remove and dispose properly all pollutants, and recover and recycle all materials. Individuals can play an important role in ensuring that WEEE does not become an environmental issue; it is essential to follow some basic rules:
– WEEE should not be treated as household waste;
– WEEE should be handed over to the relevant collection points managed by the municipality or by registered companies. In many countries, for large WEEE, home collection could be present. In many countries, when you buy a new appliance, the old one may be returned to the retailer who has to collect it free of charge on a one-to-one basis, as long as the equipment is of equivalent type and has the same functions as the supplied equipment.

Unpacking

Remove all packaging from the unit. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it please do so according to local regulations.
The following items are included:

INSTALLATION

WARNINGS:

Do not install the appliance in a damp or wet location as this could compromise the insulation and result in leakage. Furthermore, on the exterior of the same, condensate could accumulate
Do not place the appliance in locations outside or near sources of heat or exposed to direct sunlight. The appliance operates properly within the range of environmental temperatures Indicated:
- extended temperate (SN): ‘this refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 10 °C to 32 °C’;
- temperate (N): ‘this refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 32 °C’;
- subtropical (ST): ‘this refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 38 °C’;
- tropical (T): ‘this refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 43 °C’; (See the nameplate of the product)
Do not place containers with liquids on top of the appliance.
Wait at least 3 hours after final placement before placing the appliance in operation. 1 Make sure that the space around the refrigerator is adequate for ventilation. The Illustration (fig. 1) shows the minimum space required for the Installation of the refrigerator. Maintaining a wider space from the wall, results in reduced electrical energy consumption. The use of the refrigerator in a space the size less than those indicated In the illustration below (fig. 1) could result in improper operation, loud noises and breakdowns.

Reversing the Door Swing

Tools required:
Phillips style screwdriver / Flat bladed screwdriver / Hexagonal spanner.

Ensure the unit is unplugged and empty.
Adjust the two levelling feet to their highest position.
To take the door off it is necessary to tilt the unit backwards. You should rest the unit on something solid so that it will not slip during the door reversing process.
All parts removed must be saved to do the reinstallation of the door.
Do not lay the unit flat as this may damage the coolant system.
We recommend that 2 people handle the unit during assembly.

Tilt the unit slightly towards the rear and prop it securely. Two people are required to tilt the unit during the door reversal process.
Remove the top right hinge cover.
Undo the screws. Then remove the hinge bracket.
Remove the top left screw cover.
Move the core cover from left side to right side. And then lift the door and place it on a padded surface to prevent it from scratching.
Remove the screws and bottom hinge. Then remove the adjustable feet from both side.
Unscrew and remove the bottom hinge pin, turn the bracket over and replace it.
Refit the bracket fitting the bottom hinge pin. Replace both adjustable feet.
Place the door back on. Ensure the door is aligned horizontally and vertically so that the seals are closed on all sides before finally tightening the top hinge.
Insert the hinge bracket and screw it to the top of the unit.
Use a spanner to tighten it if necessary.
Put the hinge cover and the screw cover back.
With the door closed, check that the door is aligned horizontally and vertically and that the seals are closed on all sides before finally tightening the bottom hinge. Readjust the levelling feet as needed.

Levelling the Unit
To do this adjust the two levelling feet at the front of the unit. If the unit is not level, the door and magnetic seal alignments will not be covered properly.

Cleaning Before Use
Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda. Then rinse with warm water using a ‘wrung-out’ sponge or cloth. Wash the shelf in warm soapy water and dry completely before replacing in the unit. Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. If you require more information, refer to the Cleaning section.

Before Plugging in YOU MUST
Electrical connection
After shipping, place the appliance vertically and wait at least 2 – 3 hours before connecting it to the electrical system. Before inserting the plug into the electrical socket, make sure that:

The socket is earthed and in compliance with the law.
The socket can withstand the maximum power load of the appliance, as indicated on the nameplate of the refrigerator.
The power supply voltage is within the amounts indicated on the nameplate of the refrigerator.
The socket is compatible with the plug of the appliance. If not, request replacement of the plug by an authorized technician; do not use extension cords and/or multiple connectors.
When the appliance is installed, the electrical cord and the current socket must be easily reached.
The cord must not be folded or compressed.
The cord must be checked regularly and replaced solely by authorized technicians.
The manufacturer declines any liability whenever these safety measures are not respected. Check that you have a socket which is compatible with the plug supplied with the unit.
Before Turning On! Do not turn on until two hours after moving the unit. The coolant fluid needs time to settle.

Before Using Your Unit
Before placing any food in your unit, turn it on and wait for 24 hours, to make sure it is working properly and to allow it time to fall to the correct temperature. Your unit should not be overfilled.

Operation

Switching On Your Unit

Connect the mains cable to the mains socket. The internal temperature of the wine cooler is controlled by a thermostat. There are 3 settings, MIN, NORMAL, MAX.
After the unit has been on for 20 minutes adjust the thermostat control dial to NORMAL. This is the recommended setting when operating at normal room temperature (between 16°C and 32°C).
The unit may not operate at the correct temperature if it is in a particularly hot or a particularly cold room, or if you open the door often.
To ensure that the unit is cool enough to sufficiently chill your food, wait 24 hours before filling it with food.

Adjusting the Temperature
The internal temperature of the unit is controlled by a thermostat. MAX position is the coldest setting. The recommended position is between MIN and MAX, but it should be adjusted according to the environment.
Noises Inside the Unit!
You may notice that your unit makes some unusual noises. Most of these are perfectly normal, but you should be aware of them! These noises are caused by the circulation of the refrigerant liquid in the cooling system. It has become more pronounced since the introduction of CFC free gases. This is not a fault and will not affect the performance of your unit. This is the compressor motor working, as it pumps the refrigerant around the system.
Shopping for Frozen Foods

Your unit is 4-star. When you are buying frozen food, check the storage guidelines on the packaging. You will be able to store each item of frozen food for the period shown against the 4-star rating. This is usually the period stated as “Best before” on the front of the packaging. The maximum freezing capacity of this freezer is shown on the rating plate. Do not place fresh food into the freezer compartment with combined weight that exceeds the maximum weight as stated on the rating plate.
Check the temperature of the frozen food cabinet in the shop where you buy your frozen foods. It should show a temperature lower than -18°C.
Take a quick look at the frozen food package and make sure it is in perfect condition.
Always buy frozen products last on your shopping trip or visit to the supermarket. Try to keep frozen food together whilst shopping and on the journey home as this will help to keep the food frozen.
Don’t buy frozen food unless you can freeze it straight away. Specially insulated bags can be bought from most supermarkets and hardware shops. These bags can keep frozen food frozen longer.

Temperature setting recommendation

Information above give users recommendation of temperature setting.

It’s suggested to set the temperature at 4°C in the fridge compartment, and, whether possible, at -18°C in the freezer compartment.
For most food categories, the longest storage time in the fridge compartment is achieved with colder temperatures. Since some particular products (as fresh fruits and vegetables) may be damaged with colder temperatures, it is suggested to keep them in the crisper drawers, whenever present. If not present, maintain an average setting of the thermostat.
For frozen food, refer to the storage time written on the food packaging. This storage time is achieved whenever the setting respects the reference temperatures of the compartment (one-star -6°C, two stars -12°C, three stars -18°C).

Preparations for Freezing

Use quality food and handle it as little as possible. Freeze food in small quantities as it freezes faster, takes less time to defrost and enables you to control the quantity you need better.
Leave cooked food to cool completely. Chill food before freezing if possible.
Consider how you will want to cook the food before freezing it.
Don’t freeze food in metal containers if you may want to microwave it straight from the freezer.
Use special freezer bags, freezer film, polythene bags, plastic containers, and aluminium foil (heavy duty grade only). If in doubt, double wrap your food. Don’t use aluminium foil for acidic foods, e.g. citrus fruits. Don’t use thin cling film, glass, or used food containers without cleaning.
Leave a small amount of air space when freezing liquids to allow expansion.
You can use the space in the freezer most efficiently if you freeze liquids (or solids with liquids, e.g. stew) in square blocks. This is known as “Preforming”. Pour the liquid into a polythene bag which is inside a square sided container. Freeze it, and then remove it from the container and seal the bag.
Label your frozen foods as they will look the same when in frozen state. Use special freezer tapes, labels and pens with different colors. This allows you to easily organize and to effectively use the freezer. Write the contents and date; otherwise the frozen food might exceed the storage time and this could cause food poisoning. Please refer to your food packaging for the recommended storage time.
You may also add the weight and cooking notes, e.g. “defrost first”, “cook from frozen” and keep a separate log of what is in each drawer. This will save opening the door and searching around unnecessarily.

Defrosting Frozen Food

Take the frozen food out from the unit and uncover the frozen food. Let it defrost at room temperature. Don’t forget that defrosting in a warm area encourages the growth of bacteria and low temperature cooking may not destroy dangerous bacteria.
Drain off and throw away any liquid lost during defrosting.
Always make sure there are no ice-crystals in the food before cooking, particularly with meat. These crystals indicate that the food has not fully defrosted.
Cook food as soon as possible after defrosting.
Many microwaves and ovens have a defrost setting. To avoid bacterial build up, only use these if you intend to cook the food immediately afterwards.

Never refreeze anything that has been defrosted out unless you cook it again, to kill off harmful bacteria. Never re-freeze defrosted shellfish. Re-seal packs properly after removing items. This prevents drying or freezer-burn and a build up of frost on any remaining food.

Cleaning

Defrosting
Frost might build up in the unit after it has been used for a period of time. Scrape away the frost using a plastic scraper (not included).

Do not use a metal or sharp instrument to scrape away the frost, nor should you use any electrical appliances to aid defrosting.

We recommend that defrosting should be carried out when the frost layer builds up to 10 mm (0.39″). Choose a time when the stock of frozen food is low, follow these procedures:

Take out the food, turn the unit off at the mains supply and leave the door open. Ideally, the frozen food should be put into another freezer. If this is not possible, wrap the food in several sheets of newspaper or large towels and then a thick blanket to keep It cool.
Place a shallow bowl or pan below the unit. Scrape away the frost using the plastic scraper. Defrosting the remaining frost can be speeded up by placing a bowl of hot water inside the unit and closing the door. As the solid frost loosens, scrape it away with the plastic scraper and remove.
When defrosting Is complete, clean your unit’s Interior and exterior.

Cleaning the Interior and the Exterior of the Unit

Remove the shelf before cleaning.
Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda and then rinse with warm water using a ‘wrung-out’ sponge or cloth. Wipe completely dry before replacing the shelf.
Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior, and then wipe with a standard furniture polish. Make sure that the door is closed to avoid the polish getting on the magnetic door seal or inside the unit.
The grille of the condenser at the back of the unit and the adjacent components can be vacuumed using a soft brush attachment.

Cleaning Tips
Condensation may appear on the outside of the unit. This may be due to a change in room temperature. Wipe off any moisture residue. If the problem continues, please contact a qualified technician for assistance.

Maintenance

Care When Handling / Moving the Unit
Hold the unit around its sides or base when moving it. Under no circumstances should it be lifted by holding the edges of the top surface.
Servicing
The unit should be serviced by an authorized engineer and only genuine spare parts should be used. Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the unit yourself. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfunction. Contact a qualified technician.
Switching Off for Long Periods of Time
When the unit is not in use for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains supply, empty all food and clean the appliance, leaving the door ajar to prevent unpleasant smells.

Disposal
Old units still have some residual value. An environmentally friendly method of disposal will ensure that valuable raw materials can be recovered and used again. The refrigerant used in your unit and insulation materials require special disposal procedures. Ensure that none of the pipes on the back of the unit are damaged prior to disposal. Up to date information concerning options of disposing of your old unit and packaging from the new one can be obtained from your local council office. When disposing of an old unit break off any old locks or latches and remove the door as a safeguard.

Energy Saving
For better energy saving we suggest:

Installing the appliance away from heat sources and not exposed to direct sunlight and in a well ventilated too.
Avoid putting hot food into the refrigerator to avoid increasing the internal temperature and therefore causing continuous functionalizing of the compressor.
Do not excessively stuff foods so as to ensure proper air circulation.
Defrost the appliance in case there is ice to facilitate the transfer of cold.
In case of absence of electrical energy, it is advisable to keep the refrigerator door closed.
Open or keep the doors of the appliance open as little as possible
Avoid adjusting the setting to temperatures too cold.
Remove dust present on the rear of the appliance.

This symbol on the product or in the instructions means that your electrical and electronic equipment should be disposed at the end of its life separately from your household waste. There are separate collection systems for recycling in the EU. For more information, please contact the local authority or your retailer where you purchased the product.

“Thermostats, temperature sensors, printed circuit boards and light sources are available for a minimum period of seven years after placing the last unit of the model on the market. Door handles, door hinges, trays and baskets for a
minimum period of seven years and door gaskets for a minimum period of 10 year, after placing the last unit of the model on the market”.
