Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication.
This radio transmitter has been approved by Industry Canada to operate with Motorola Solutions-approved antenna with the maximum permissible gain and required antenna impedance for each antenna type indicated. Antenna types not included in this list, having a gain greater than the maximum gain indicated for that type, are strictly prohibited for use with this device.

Attaching the Battery

Notice:
For optimal performance, charge a new battery 14 to 16 hours before initial use.

  1. Align the battery with the rails on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery upwards until the latch snaps into place.
  3. Lock the battery latch.

Attaching the Antenna

  1. Turn off the radio.
  2. Set the antenna in the receptacle and turn clockwise.
    1. Not for Non-Keypad models.
    2. Not for Limited Keypad models.
    3. Non-Keypad models have Channel Selector Knob instead.

Turning the Radio On and Off
Rotate the On/Off/Volume Control Knob clockwise or counterclockwise until a click sounds.
Adjusting the Volume
Rotate the On/Off/Volume Control Knob clockwise or counterclockwise.
LED Indicators
Blinking Red
Radio is transmitting in low battery state, has failed the self-test upon powering up, has moved out of range if the radio is configured with AutoRange Transponder System, or is receiving an emergency transmission.
Solid Green
Radio is powering up, transmitting, indicating full battery capacity when the programmed Battery Strength button is pressed, or selecting NiMH as the battery type when this batteryType button is pressed.
Blinking Green
Radio is receiving a call or data or detecting activity over the air.
Solid Yellow
Radio is monitoring a conventional channel, selecting Li-Ion as the battery type when the Battery Type button is pressed, or indicating fair battery charge when the programmed Battery Strength button is pressed.
Blinking Yellow
Radio is scanning for activity, has Flexible Receive List enabled, or has yet to respond to a Call Alert.
Double Blinking Yellow
Radio is actively searching for a new site, is locked, or has yet to respond to a Group Call Alert.
Display Icons
The following icons appear on the status bar at the top of the radio display. The icons are arranged left most in order of appearance or usage and are channel-specific.
