RF Energy Exposure and Product Safety Guide for Portable Two-Way Radios

ATTENTION!

Before using this product, read the RF Energy Exposure and Product Safety Guide that ships with the radio which contains instructions for safe usage and RF energy awareness and control for compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

ACOUSTIC SAFETY

Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the
radio’s volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a cumulative effect.
To protect your hearing:

  • Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job.
  •  Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings.
  •  Turn down the volume before connecting the headset or earpiece.
  •  Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpieces at high volume.
  •  When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the radio’s speaker directly against your ear.

The Mag One accessory line gives you the maximum value on your investment. This accessory is best suited for indoor use and provides portable, convenient communications.
You can receive/transmit messages without removing the radio from your belt or carry case.

OPERATING INSTRUCTION
  1.  Turn OFF your radio before connecting the audio accessory.
  2.  Remove the dust cover from the side of the radio and attach the RSM.
  3. Turn your radio ON and adjust to a comfortable volume.
WEARING THE RSM

To obtain the best performance from your RSM, wear the radio and the RSM as shown, making sure that the accessory cord does not cross over the antenna. It is also advisable to wear the radio and the RSM fairly close to each other to avoid the strain on the accessory connector (see Figure 1).

RECEIVING

When the RSM is connected to the radio, the radio is muted and the audio is heard from the RSM. This RSM has an innovative reflex port
(see Figure 2) which reduces the echo effect. This improves the voice quality, makes the audio received sound natural, clear and crisp.

TRANSMITTING

When the RSM is connected to the radio, you can only use the RSM to transmit. Connecting the

RSM to the radio disables the radio’s microphone.

NOTE: For the radio to detect the accessory properly, turn the radio off before connecting the audio accessory to the radio.

Radios with this “Digital Symbol” are digital-capable radios and require the use of accessories with the same “Digital Symbol”.
These accessories with the “Digital Symbol” have been optimized for digital audio Transmit and Receive.
The use of non-approved accessories may result in the degradation of audio quality.
