FOREWORD
Product Safety and RF Exposure Compliance

Before using this product, read the operating instructions for safe usage contained in the Product Safety and RF Exposure booklet enclosed with your radio.

ATTENTION!
The RSM, when attached to the radio, is restricted to occupational use only to satisfy FCC/ICNIRP RF energy exposure requirements. Before using this product, read the RF energy awareness information and operating instructions in the Product Safety and RF Exposure booklet enclosed with your radio to ensure compliance with RF energy exposure limits.
For information regarding FM radio use in a hazardous atmosphere, please refer to the Factory Mutual (FM) Approval Product Listing, which is included with radio models that offer this capability.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
For information regarding ATEX radio use in a hazardous environment, please refer to the Important Safety Information – ATEX EC Directive 94/9/EC and the ATEX Accessory Listing Leaflet which is included with the radio models.

DESCRIPTION
The PMMN4067 Remote Speaker Microphone (RSM) provides a convenient means of communicating by having a speaker, a microphone, and a PTT in a single, hand-held, or clip-on accessory. This RSM comes with an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP64.
The Remote Speaker Microphone has:

  • A toggle switch that allows users to gain access to two-volume levels without having to touch the radio.
  • An Accessory Orange button, located at the top of the RSM housing.

OPERATION
This procedure must be carried out before entering a hazardous environment.

Attaching the RSM to the Radio

  1. Turn the radio off.
  2.  Remove the universal connector seal from the side of the radio and attach the RSM.
  3. Turn the radio on.

Wearing the RSM
(See Figure 2)
For optimum performance from your RSM, wear the radio and RSM so that the accessory cord will not cross over or touch the antenna. Also, try to wear the radio and accessory combination fairly close to each other to avoid strain on the accessory connector.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The RSM must be fitted only with the ATEX approved clip/stud (part no.
4205823V07). Standard non-ATEX approved (metal) clips must not be used.

Receiving
When the RSM is connected to the radio accessory connector, the radio’s speaker is muted, and the audio is only heard from the RSM speaker.
Transmitting
To transmit using your RSM:

  1. Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the RSM.
  2. Speak into the RSM.
  3.  Release the PTT when finished.
    Note: Connecting the RSM to the radio does not disable the radio’s microphone and PTT.

Toggle Switch
The toggle switch allows you to switch the volume from the radio’s setting to a lower level and back again without having to touch the radio. Toggle to the direction of ( ) to decrease the volume by 12 dB SPL ±2 dB to a lower level;
toggle to the direction of ( ) to return the volume to the radio’s setting.
Using the Accessory Orange Button
The orange (top) button can be used to activate a radio emergency call. This button is performing an identical function with the orange button on the top of your radio.
The orange button on the top of the radio must be assigned to Emergency mode using the Customer Programming Software (CPS).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Radio Programming Required – Read Carefully!
For conventional channels, Radio programming is required for the RSM Emergency button to operate properly. The orange button on the top of the radio must be assigned to the Emergency mode using the Customer Programming Software (CPS).

Removing the RSM
This procedure must be carried out away from hazardous environments.

Turn the radio off before removing the RSM from the radio accessory connector. Remember to reattach the radio accessory connector seal to the side of the radio when an accessory is not being used.
SERVICE AND WARRANTY
The Remote Speaker Microphone is not field repairable.
However, there are items that can be replaced/serviced by an Intrinsically Safe (IS) trained personnel from your Motorola Service Center who is aware of the special parts required and the procedures to maintain the ATEX conformance of the product. The following replacement part is available for order through your Motorola Service representative.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Any RSMs disassembled in the field will invalidate the ATEX conformance of the product. Only the replacement part in Table 1 can be used without invalidating ATEX conformance.
