Surveillance Microphone and Earpiece Accessories for Handie-Talkie®Portable Radios
Models BDN6664, BDN6665, BDN6666, BDN6667, BDN6668, BDN6669,
BDN6670, BDN6726, BDN6727,BDN6728, BDN6729, BDN6730, BDN6731
and BDN6732.

 DESCRIPTION

All earpiece accessories are designed to permit concealed operation of the universal-type, HandieTalkie®two-way portable radios. There are two categories of accessories, Earpieces and Surveillance Earpieces with microphones.

EARPIECES
The earpiece assembly consists of :

• a beige or black colored urethane earloop
• an earphone
• a standard-sized ear tip
• a cable with a 3.5mm threaded connector

Each model listed below provides remote monitoring of radio transmissions.

SURVEILLANCE EARPIECES WITH MICROPHONES
The surveillance earpieces with microphones consist :

• a beige or black colored urethane earloop
• an earphone
• a standard sized ear tip
• a cable with a 3.5mm threaded connector

Each model listed below provides remote monitoring of radio transmissions and remote control of the push-to-talk (PTT) function of the radio.

When any model is plugged in the accessory jack of the radio, the internal radio speaker is disabled and the receive audio is switched to the earpiece  assembly. Please note that on the accessories with a remote microphone and PTT switch, if the PTT on the radio is depressed, the radio microphone will be enabled and the accessory remote microphone disabled. Similarly, if the PTT on the accessory is depressed, the accessory microphone will be enabled and the radio microphone disabled.
Note: The standard antenna must be installed on the radio for the proper operation of these accessories.

 EARPIECE ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

The ear tip, earloop and earphone portion of the assembly are interchangeable. To assemble the earpiece with the different accessories or to change the entire earpiece assembly, refer to the exploded view (Figure 1) and proceed as follows:
a. To change eartips:
detach the standard eartip(1) from the earphone  (3). Replace the standard ear tip (1) with the small ear tip. Press firmly on the ear tip to secure. See the reference chart for the part number of the small ear tip.
b. To change the earloop:
detach the standard eartip(1) from the earphone(3). Remove the urethane earloop(2) from the earphone(3). Replace the standard earloop (2) with the wired earloop. Press the eartip(1) firmly in place. See reference chart of the part number of the wired earloop.
c. To change the standard earphone assembly to a louder earphone:
detach the accessory cable connector (4) from the earphone (3). Replace the entire earpiece assembly (earphone, earloop, ear tip) with the louder earpiece assembly. Reconnect the accessory cable (4) to the new assembly by snapping firmly in place. See the reference chart for the part number of the louder earpiece assembly.
d. To change the earloop from a right ear to a left ear application: 
detach the standard eartip (1) from the earphone (3). Remove the urethane earloop (2) from the earphone (3). Flip the earloop (2) from a right ear position to a left ear position. See the diagram for proper positioning of each. Place the earloop (2) against the earphone (3). Replace the standard ear tip(1).

Each model listed below are replacement parts for the earpiece.

Note:The eartip and earloop are part of the earpiece assembly (P/N 50-80369E38, 50-80370E90 or 50-80369E39, 50-80370E91), and are included in the  BDN6664, BDN6665, BDN6667, BDN6668, BDN6669, BDN6670, BDN6726, BDN6727, BDN6728, BDN6729, BDN6730, BDN6731, BDN6732.

OPTIONAL ACCESSORY ITEMS:
(Available for beige accessories only.)

ACOUSTIC SAFETY

Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the radio’s volume,  the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a  cumulative effect.
To protect your hearing :

• Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job
• Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings
• Turn down the volume before connecting the headset or earpiece
• Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpieces at high volume
• When using the radio without a headset or an earpiece, do not place the radio’s speaker directly against your ear

WARRANTY

Motorola Solutions warrants the Surveillance Microphone and Earpiece Accessories against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year from shipment.
Items will be replaced free of charge for the full warranty period. Freight charges to and from the place where warranty replacement is provided shall be the  Customers responsibility.
The warranty does NOT cover defects or damages to the Surveillance Microphone and Earpiece Accessories resulting from: (a) use in a manner other than normal operation as specified in the Instruction Manual; (b) misuse, accident or neglect; (c) improper disassembly, testing, operation, maintenance,  installation, adjustment, alteration, repair or any modification by the Customer or any other person without the prior written consent of Motorola.
