Using the air purifier

Air quality light

After approximately 1 minute, the particle sensor and AeraSense sensor select the color that corresponds to the surrounding air quality.

Note: The color of the air quality light is determined by the highest risk index among formaldehyde, gas, PM2.5 and IAI readings.

Formaldehyde refers to the indoor formaldehyde concentration.

Formaldehyde level Air quality light color Air quality level
£010mg/m3 Blue Good
011-020mg/m3 Blue-purple Fair
021-059mg/m3 Purple-red Poor

Knowing the AeraSense sensor

The AeraSense sensor is consist of formaldehyde sensor, gas sensor, temperature and humidity sensor

Gas sensor:

The gas level indicated by this device refers to overall gas level indoor. The gas sensor used by the device does not monitor individual gases (for example, it can monitor multiple types of gases such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane, alcohol and cooking fumes), therefore there will be a discrepancy in measurement accuracy for a particular type of gas. It is recommended to turn on the Turbo mode if there is quite a strong odor in the room.

Formaldehyde sensor:

Please avoid touching and damaging the surface of the formaldehyde sensor as it is a sensitive device. Do not spray or splash organic substances such as solvent, paint, cooking fumes or perfume onto the sensor. If such splashing occurs, please move the device to a well-ventilated place. The sensor will get back to normal after the organic substances have dissipated. As the device has been sealed in its packaging for a long time, the formaldehyde reading may be relatively high when the device is turned on for the first time, which is normal. To eliminate the effects of gas contained in packaging, the device can be left in a wellventilated place for 24 hours before use.

Note:

  • Do not use the device in an environment where temperature and humidity levels are above normal. Otherwise, the detection accuracy of the PM2.5 sensor or formaldehyde sensor may be affected or the sensor may be damaged.
  • The accuracy of the AeraSense sensor box may decrease after about 2 years of usage. It is recommended to replace a new one for better experience.
  • Please call customer service hotline 4008 800 008 for AeraSense sensor box purchase.

Problem Possible solution
The appliance does not work even though it is plugged in
  • Check if the back cover is properly installed
  • The filter replacement alert has been on continuously but you have not replaced the corresponding filter As a result, the appliance is now locked In this case, replace the filter and long press  to reset the filter lifetime counter
The airflow that comes out of the air outlet is significantly weaker than before
  • The surface of the filter is dirty Clean the surface of the filter (see the chapter “Cleaning and maintenance”)
The air quality does not improve, even though the appliance has been operating for a long time
  • Check if the packing material is removed from the filter
  • The filter has not been placed in the appliance Make sure that the filter (FY4452) is properly installed
  • The humidity level of the sensor is high and causes condensation
Make sure that the particle sensor is clean and dry (see the chapter “Cleaning and maintenance
  • Please check if there are foreign objects around the sensor (see the chapter “Cleaning and maintenance”)
  • Room size is large or the outdoor air quality is poor

For optimum purification performance, please close the doors and windows when operating the air purifier

  • There are indoor pollution resources
For instances, smoking, cooking, incense, perfume or alchohol
  • Filter reaches the end of life Replace the filter with a new one
The color of the air quality light always stays the same
  •  The sensor is dirty
Clean the sensor (see the chapter “Cleaning and maintenance”)
The appliance produces a strange smell
  • The first few times you use the appliance, it may produce a plastic smell This is normal
However, if the appliance produces a burnt smell even if removing filter, contact your Philips dealer or an authorized Philips service center
The filter may produce smell after being used for a while because of the absorption of indoor gases
It’s recommended that you reactivate the filter by putting it in direct sunlight for repeated use
If odor still exists, replace the filter
The appliance is extra loud
  • It’s normal if the appliance runs at the Turbo mode
  • In the Auto mode, if the appliance is too loud, maybe the appliance runs at high speed because air quality becomes worse, or your personalized setting in App triggers a higher fan speed You can choose the Sleep mode, Gengle mode, or change the settings in the App

Formaldehyde reading suddenly rises sharply
  • Please check whether there is a new source of formaldehyde pollution nearby
  • Please check whether there are any substances around the device that are interfering with the AeraSense sensor, such as cooking fumes or an air freshener
In the Turbo mode, the formaldehyde reading fails to reach the minimum range after a long time
  • The room is too large or concentration of formaldehyde is too high, exceeding the purifying capacity of the device
Please make sure that the room size is within the recommended surface area
  •  A certain type of interfering gas exists around the device for a prolonged time and cannot be eliminated by the device

Please open window(s) for ventilation and remove the source of interference
