General description
This adaptor allows equipment such as the Duo-Comm2, product code HT299, which has been designed for use with a BT telephone line, to connect to a Cisco IP phone system. The Cisco IP phone system is not compatible with a BT telephone line, therefore, requiring this adaptor to allow correct communication. Primarily designed to accompany the Duo Comm 2, this adaptor offers a simple and quick connection to IP (Cisco) systems.
Please note: This adaptor works only with BT and Cisco systems or IP phone systems (designed by other makers) that may use the Cisco design.
Items supplied
- 1 x AKD-003 IP Phone (Cisco) to BT Phone Adaptor
- 1 x RJ10 (1.5Mts) Cable
Orientation
Hold the phone adaptor so that there is a single tactile marker on the top, on the left. This indicates the line-in socket side of the product; this socket is directly below the tactile mark. Moving to the right two tactile marks are located. These indicate the IP Phone socket side of the product; this socket is directly below the tactile marks.
Using the product
Connect the supplied, coiled RJ10 cable to the “BT Line” socket of the adaptor. Orientate the RJ10 cable so that you are holding one end of the coiled cable, it does not matter which end is chosen for this. The connector at each end of the coiled cable has a protruding latch, which is designed to lock into the socket on the adaptor. Locate the protruding latch and make sure this is pointing downwards. Now hold the adaptor with the tactile marks uppermost and the socket opening towards the cable. Insert the cable into the socket. A positive click should be heard when the cable is correctly inserted. Then connect the other end of the RJ10 cable to the BT phone (handset connection) or phone equipment, such as product code HT299. Orientate the cable to fit your existing equipment.
Now, holding the standard handset cable (RJ10) from your IP phone, included with your existing phone equipment, in the same way as before, connect the cable into the “IP Phone” socket on the adaptor.
The adaptor is ready to be used and should now enable IP phone to BT line or equivalent communications.
