SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This book shows instructions to have you use a product safely. Carefully read and fully understand the safety precautions and INSTRUCTION MANUAL below before operating the equipment.
In addition, please put this paper at hand to refer immediately when it is necessary.
Indication about safety precaution
This paper and the warning labels use “warning” and “caution” as words to express degree of the danger.

 WARNING Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
 CAUTION Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will result in minor or moderate injury.

WARNING: Electric shock hazard and fire hazard

If you see smoke or smell an unusual odor, stop the supply of power to the unit.

・If you see smoke or smell an unusual odor, stop the supply of power to the unit, unplug the power cable from the outlet, and then contact the sales branch or us. Using the damaged unit might cause a fire or electric shock.

Do not modify the unit.

・Modification might cause a fire or electric shock. Hitachi shall not be responsible for any consequences resulting from modification of the unit.

Do not use faulty unit without repair.

・When you drop the unit or damage its chassis, stop the supply of power to the unit, unplug the power cable form the outlet, and then contact the sales branch or us. Using the damaged unit without repair might cause a fire or electric shock.

Use the power cable that comes with the unit.

・Use the power cable that comes with the unit. Using any other cable might cause equipment failure, fire, or electric shock. If this unit is to be used with a voltage over 125 V AC, prepare a suitable power cable and verify proper operation of the cable before use.

Do not pulling the cable by holding cable part.

・To remove a cable, hold the connector and then pull it out straight. Pulling the cable or applying excessive force on the connector might damage the cable and cause fire or electric shock.

Do not use a two-pole plug without a ground pole.

・The outlet to which this unit is connected must have a ground terminal (ground pole). You must also install an electrical leakage breaker. Failure to take these measures might cause fire and electric shock.

Make sure that no condensation is present.

・Condensation might cause a short-circuit fire during operation of the unit. Make sure that no condensation is present.

Avoid impacting the unit in any way.

・Subjecting the unit to physical impact during use might cause a short-circuit fire. Avoid impacting the unit in any way.

Other Warnings

This equipment alone cannot guarantee the system safety.

  • Configure an emergency stop circuit or interlock circuit outside the product. Failure of this product might damage the devices connected to it or cause an accident.
  • This unit is not intended for use in facilities or with equipment where human life or other extreme liability is involved or for the purpose of controlling such equipment. Examples of such facilities and equipment are medical equipment, nuclear power facility or equipment, aviation or space equipment, and transportation facilities and equipment. Hitachi shall not be liable for any accidents resulting in injury or death or property damage arising from the use of this unit in such facilities or with such equipment or control systems.

CAUTION against falls

Be careful about unpacking, transportation, the setting of the equipment enough.

  • To avoid injury, be careful not to drop or topple the unit during transport or disposal.
  • Be careful not to injure your fingers when unpacking or transporting the unit. Unpacking or carrying the equipment.
  • Set the equipment in the stable place. when you set the equipment in the unstable place, the equipment drops and somebody falls down in the equipment and causes the injury.
  • Confirm that you possess it, and work was carried out surely enough. When there is the slack of poor installation and the screw, the equipment drops and might be hurt.

CAUTION against burn injury

Note that the unit becomes hot during use.

  • The unit with a failure might generate heat. Avoided physical contact with the unit.

Other Cautions

Make sure that the cord has proper rating and meets local safety requirements whatever applicable. Otherwise, an electric shock
or machine failure may result.

  • The equipment ships with no AC power code. It is the customer’s responsibility to procure one that has proper rating and meets local safety requirements whatever applicable.

Precaution about disposing a battery

  • This symbol mark is valid in countries inside the European Union. This symbol mark is specified in Article 20 “Information for end-users” and Annex II of the EU directive 2006/66/EC. This equipment is equipped with a lithium battery. In the European Union, a separate collection system for used battery and accumulator has been in place. Process batteries and accumulators appropriately at a local collection/recycle center.

Precaution about EMI

  • This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at their own expense.

How to start the equipment

Follow the procedure below to start the equipment:

  1. Confirm that you follow each above-mentioned instruction enough.
  2. Make sure that the power cable is correctly connected to the unit.
  3. After connecting cables to the unit, insert the power cable plug into the outlet.
  4. Turn on the main power switch (MAIN POWER).
    The POWER lamp (POWER) lights red, and then automatically changes to green and the unit is turned on.
  5. When the BIOS starts, the STATUS lamp (STATUS) lights red. When the OS has started and the unit is running,
    the STATUS lamp (STATUS) changes to green.
    • When the OS less model, STATUS lamp is not change.

How to shut down the power of the equipment

Follow the procedure below to shut down the power of the equipment:

  1. Make sure that the OS has shut down.
  2. Make sure that “system halted” is displayed, or the POWER lamp (POWER) lights red.
  3. Turn off the main power switch (MAIN POWER).
